
There has been a lot of uproar about the decision by the Rwanda Development Board to increase the mountain gorilla trekking fees by Rwanda tour operators. Mountain gorilla safaris in Rwanda has been increased due to the price hike despite the economic melt down that has seen many tourists spending cautiously.

Rwanda has hiked the price of mountain gorilla trekking fees from $500 to $750 for foreign tourists visiting gorillas in Rwanda. That means that the gorilla trekking safari packages have been increased by 50% and this cuts across board for local and foreign residents.

The International Gorilla Conservation Program Country representative has said that they are carrying out a mountain gorilla population census which is expected to end on Oct. 20th in which the number of mountain gorillas is expected to have increased by at least 26%.
