This 3 Days gorilla tour takes you to Mgahinga National Park, located in South Western Uganda. Mgahinga National Park sits high in the clouds. It is located kust 14km from Kisoro town and covers an area of 33 sq km. The park is habituated by the rare mountain gorillas giving room for gorilla tours.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kisoro
Set off from Kampala to Kisoro which is located about 540 km from Uganda’s Capital city. The journey takes you past the Equator. You will have a stopover at the Equator for photography. Continue to Mbarara for lunch. Continue through the rolling hills of Kigezi and Kisoro. Overnight at Kisoro Tourist Hotel (Budget) / Kisoro Travellers’ Rest (Midrange) / Mount Gahinga Lodge (Luxury)
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
An early morning breakfast. The guide leads you to the ampitheatre for briefing. After getting briefed about the gorilla trek, the rangers will guide you through the gorilla’s world, clearing up aspects of their ecosystem and behavior. Gorilla trekking is the most exciting and unforgettable experience, which might take one through a thick jungle for the whole of the day. The tourists group (The Nyakagezi group) consists of 9 members; 3 adult females, 2 silver backs, 2 juveniles and 2 infants. (Tracking can take three to eight hours). This activity can be a tiring walk so one has to go geared up. It is prudent that you to wear good sturdy shoes suitable for muddy places and binoculars for easy vision. Overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge/Kisoro Tourist Hotel/Travellers’ Rest Hotel.
Day 3: Reserved for departure
After breakfast, head back to Kampala. Have enroute lunch at Mbarara.
