This 8 Days Uganda Safari focuses on primates and wildlife of Uganda. Meet the wild chimpanzees in Kibale Forest and the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will enjoy relaxing wildlife safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park on this safari.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Our guide will pick you from the hotel. Travel west to Kibale National Park. The journey takes you past Mubende. Have Lunch in Fort Portal. On your arrival, explore the crater lakes region. Overnight at Kibale Safari Lodge (Budget) / Chimpanzee Guest House (Midrange) / Kibale Primates Lodge (Luxury) / Ndali Lodge (High End). All accommodation is on a full board basis.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking
After an early morning breakfast, you will be taken to Kanyanchu headquarters for briefing before you head for the thrilling chimpanzee tracking. Hike through the forest to track chimpanzees. The forest also inhabits 12 other primates which you will view when given enough time like gray cheeked mangabeys, baboons and vervet monkeys. After the trek return to the lodge. In the afternoon, take a Bigodi Swamp walk in bid to view the birds and monkeys that inhabit the swamp. Retire at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Kibale Safari Lodge (Budget) / Chimpanzee Guest House (Midrange) / Kibale Primates Lodge (Luxury) / Ndali Lodge (High End)

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, head for Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is situated at the foot of the Rwenzoris Mountains. This famous park protects over 200 sq km of Rift Valley Savanna, interspersed with patches of forest and crater lakes thus an thought for a safari. It has an estimate of 68 different species of mammals such as Topi, Impala, Zebra, Buffalo, Eland, leopard, Hyenas and jackals. The five lakes within the park attract hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds, while the fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists, such as the sitatunga antelope and red, black and yellow papyrus Gonalek. In the evening, go for an evening game drive to catch up with the late grazers.  Dinner and overnight at Bush Lodge (Budget) / Enganzi Lodge (Midrange) / Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury) / Katara Lodge (High End)

Day 4: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Go for an early morning game drive in the Park, to see wildlife that live in the park. Some of the popular animals to look for in the park are elephants, lions, Uganda Kobs, spotted hyenas, leopard etc. Return to the lodge. After lunch go for a 3 hour launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. You will scrutinize the concentration of water birds, hippos and crocodiles which is amazing. The bird species includes the black bee- eater, 11 types of king fisher, and several species of falcons, eagles and the raptors and many more. . Day 5: Game drives and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, you will go for game viewing through the Ishasha Sector. This region famous for its richness in biodiversity.  This is the home of the climbing lions that are known to hang in the fig trees. We try out our luck for lions.  With enroute lunch, proceed to Bwindi Forest and on your arrival relax while preparing for the following day gorilla trekking experience. Overnight at

Day 6: Gorilla trekking
Enter the sanctuary at dawn and enjoy the beauty and freshness of the forest, home of the mountain gorillas. After a short briefing by the experienced guides, proceed through dense bush to trek for these endangered animals called the great Apes (Gorillas). Other primates also live in the forest including the black-and-white colobus monkey, red tail monkey and chimpanzee. This can be very tiring due to the fact that the ground is steep and densely forested but it really is worth it.  After the gorilla trek, travel to Lake Bunyonyi. Day 7: Full Day at Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up at leaisure. Take a boat ride along the Lake Bunyonyi. Visit one of the islands within in the Bunyonyi. You will visit one of the Batwa Communities. Learn about the culture of the Batwa People. Return to the lodge. Relax all evening. Overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Camp (Budget) / Arcadia Lodge (Midrange) / Bunyonyi Bird Nest Lodge (Luxury)

Day 8: Return to Kampala

After breakfast, return to Kampala, the capital of Uganda. You will have lunch enroute. You will have a stopover at the Equator for photographs. Drop off  at the hotel or Entebbe Airport.
OR travel to Kigali via the Katuna Border. Drop off  at the hotel or Kigali Airport.
